Some high-profile journalists are allegedly putting pressure on police to release a suspected mastermind in the leaking of question papers of public exams.
A senior police official of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on condition of anonymity told, “Some senior journalists are continuously pressuring us to release a kingpin who was involved in question paper leaks for long.”
According to sources, several detective teams, who were supervised by Joint Commissioner Shaikh Nazmul Alam, arrested at least 12 question leakers from different parts of the capital on Saturday.
The arrestees were primarily identified as Fahim, the mastermind, and his accomplices Al Amin, Amanur, Ahsan, Sujan, Abid, Shayon and Zahid.
On information, a DB team arrested Fahim and one of his aides from Govt Laboratory School in Dhanmondi area at noon.
He was caught red-handed after his mobile phone was tracked. After checking his Facebook account, the officials found a series of leaked question papers from his possession.
Fahim also admitted to his involvement during primary interrogation at DB office.
Allegations have it that some senior journalists are pressurising police, claiming that Fahim is a nephew of a chief reporter of a private TV channel. bdpost.
