Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has opened a call centre to provide medical services for the Chikungunya patients in the areas under its jurisdiction.
Through dialing 09611000999, the Chikungunya-affected people can now get medical services and medicines free of cost from their homes round the clock, said DSCC Public Relations Officer Uttam Kumar Roy on Thursday.
After the call, a DSSC physician of the respective area will go to the patient's house to provide the medical services, he said.
Meanwhile, 28 Nagar Health Centres and five Nagar Matri SadanKendras under the Urban Primary Healthcare project as well as corporation's two own hospitals and a Matri Sadan Centre started providing treatment for the Chikungunya patients from Thursday.
Chikungunya is a viral disease transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes. It is characterised by an abrupt onset of fever frequently accompanied by joint pain.
