Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim on Tuesday said the number of doctors and nurses in the country are inadequate against the demand. He said this while responding to a tabled starred question from M Abdul Latif (Chittagong-11) in Parliament.
The minister said the number of registered MBBS doctors in the country is 77,000, while that of dental surgeon is 6,976.
He also mentioned that the number of approved nurses is 22,939. "The number of doctors and nurses are not sufficient against the demand," he said. The health minister also said the process to appoint doctors through each BCS examinations is on. He said additional 10,000 posts of nurses have been created, while process to appoint 3,616 nurses to vacant posts is on.
