For Muslims, Eid al-Azha honors the day when Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), on this day approximately 4,000 years back, offered to give up his cherished child Hazrat Ismail (AS) who energetically submitted to the will of his dad to please Allah.
Be that as it may, the Almighty in His benevolent leniency saved Hazrat Ismail (AS) and rather sent a ram to be yielded. Eid al-Azha in Arabic actually signifies "celebration of the penance".
